pisslburydoughboy47, Israel is a puny sliver of land, rediculously small.
Militarily though, I agree, it is rather strong, however, Israel has no choice, it's in a tough neighborhood.
That said, Israel's military is defensive and acts to protect it's citizens, whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Baha'ai, Druze, etc.
Hamas on the other hand is a different matter. They should do everything to build and thrive, instead of encouraging death and destruction.
re last comment : I live in Ashkelon, an expat from England, and I am a Christian. No, most people do not have shelters built in their houses. Most people live in flats, esp those built in 60's donrt have shelters, only ''public ones.'' I was here during the ''gaza war'' and I rem standing with my son and his friends in our back room because its only one with concrete roof when the siren went off, until we counted two rockets dropping close by. The media didnt reflect real lives of people here.
